Data access from quality registries

Data can be requested from the quality registries managed by UCR.
Requests can be made for different types of data and for various purposes. UCR can also provide statistical analysis in connection with data requests.

Costs and conditions

UCR charges a base fee of SEK 5,500 for the administration of research data requests.
In addition, time spent processing the request and managing data is charged at an hourly rate of SEK 1,350 (excluding VAT, from 2026).

By submitting a request for data from a quality registry managed by UCR, you also accept the applicable billing terms.

Most requests require approximately 10–40 hours to process, but more complex requests may take longer.

Important information for data access

To request data for research purposes, approval from the Swedish Ethical Review Authority is required. The research question must be clearly defined, and the requested data must be precisely specified. If you need assistance, contact the registry holder for questions about the data or UCR for support with the ethical application.
Once the conditions are met, researchers can apply for access to data through the application form.
Applications are reviewed based on clarity, objectives and feasibility in relation to each registry’s research group.
Publications based on data from national quality registries must describe how the data were obtained. We recommend including a person with knowledge of the registry in the research team to ensure accurate reporting. It is also important to register information on where the results are published.
For data requests aimed at quality improvement purposes, such as statistical reporting within healthcare or monitoring healthcare quality, ethical approval is not required.
